A world class ski resort with 26 lifts, and 4 different peaks with 146 trails of beginner to expert terrain, the resort has all the amenities you would want for your local ski area. Nestled at the base of the mountain is a quaint Victorian village that offers lots of shopping and fantastic restaurants to be enjoyed both summer and winter.

Arapahoe Basin

Only a little farther than Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin is a smaller, more intimate mountain with more expert terrain. And the best news for you Skiing enthusiasts, Arapahoe Basin is often the first open and the last to close, sometimes it is even open into June! It has 6 lifts and 69 trails.

Keystone

Keystone is another 15 miles away from Breckenridge. It has 19 lifts and all levels of terrain. Keystone also offers night skiing and plays host to many festivals and activities in the summer months.

Vail

Vail is a 75 miles drive from Hartsel, but it is worth the extra effort! Vail is notorious for its wonderful snow and its plenitude of terrain. With 5,289 total skiable acres, it is one of the largest ski areas in Colorado. It has 34 lifts and 193 trails, but Vail’s true claim to fame is the 7 legendary back bowls.

Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain is the largest of the ski areas in Summit County, and is just 60 miles from Hartsel. It has 22 lifts, and 125 trails on 2,450 acres of skiable terrain.

Loveland

Loveland is a small area about 60 miles from Hartsel. It has 11 lifts and 1,365 acres of terrain.

Monarch

Heading in the other direction 60 miles from Hartsel is Monarch Ski & Snowboard area. Monarch avoids the crowds that hit the summit county ski areas from Denver and has a home town feel to it. It has 800 skiable acres along the continental divide with 5 lifts and 55 trails. Monarch is one of the few areas that doesn’t make artificial snow.
And don’t forget to stop at Mt. Princeton hot springs for a relaxing soak on your way home!

Nearby Nordic/Cross Country Skiing & Snow Shoeing

While many times of the year you may be able to leave from your doorstep to go cross country skiing or snow shoeing, there are also Nordic centers in the area that offer groomed runs and great snow.
